A charitable trust administered by legal and financial services firm Mourant has donated $20,000 to the National Council of Voluntary Organisations.
The NCVO is a non-profit, charitable organisation that engages in projects to meet the social needs of the Cayman Islands community.
Since Hurricane Ivan struck in 2004, the NCVO’s revenues have fallen short, and new sources of funding are desperately required.
The projects selected to benefit from the new funding include the provision of playground equipment, toys and nursery accessories to Miss Nadine’s Pre-School and Nursery, and a guided trip to Orlando for 10 foster children.
Janice Wilson, NCVO Chief Executive Officer, commented: ‘It’s fantastic news as we are in real need of funds and have had very few donations so far this year.’
Roisin Cater, a partner at Mourant’s Cayman office, said: ‘As a result of its work in the international capital markets, Mourant acts as trustee to many charitable trusts established to facilitate particular financial transactions. We very much admire the work of the National Council of Voluntary Organisations, so when we had a distribution of charitable funds to make, the trustees resolved to provide the Council with financial support. We wish the NCVO well with its future fund-raising.’
