Cydonie Mothersill placed second in the women’s 200 meters at the Bizlett Games in Stockholm, Sweden last Friday.Her time of 22.87 seconds gave her the runnerup spot behind Kim Gaevert of Belgium.
Omar Wright of Rice University will be participating in the NCAA Division I Track and Field Championships which take place from 7-10 June, at Sacramento State University in California.
Omar tied for eighth place in the Mid West Regional Championships with a clearance of 6’11’/2.11 meters.The top five performers at each Regional automatically qualify for Nationals.
However, a number of at-large invitations are awarded to persons who have achieved outstanding results during the season.
Accordingly, Omar was selected for Nationals for his 2.19 meters/7’2 1/4′ finish at the Conference USA Championships , which tied the Rice University record, and upped his own Cayman Islands record.
This mark ties the 10th highest clearance for Division I competitors this season. He is scheduled to compete in the preliminaries on Friday, 9 June, when he will attempt to qualify for Saturday’s finals.
