Breaker’s Lagoon in Boatswain’s Beach opened to the public Saturday.
Visitors can now enjoy a refreshing, cool dip in the fresh water tidal lagoon and dine on a scrumptious meal at Breaker’s Snack Shack. Items on the menu include jerk chicken and pork, hamburgers, sandwiches and desserts.
Guests can also observe the turtles swimming in the breeding pond or stop by the touch tanks to take a memorable photo holding one of the yearlings.
There is an introductory special of CI$14 for adults and CI$8 for children.
This weekend there will be free entry for the first 10 people to the park, a treasure hunt for kids, 15 per cent discount specials in the retail shop and other specials in the food and beverage facilities.
The normal entry fee to visit Boatswain’s Beach will be CI$16 for children between ages two and 12, and CI$28 for adults; children younger than two will be admitted free.
A nature trail, free-flight aviary featuring exotic birds and an interactive education centre that will also house the hatchery are slated to come on stream soon.
As of September 2006 the park will also introduce such additional features as a snorkel lagoon filled with thousands of reef fish, a predator tank, a Caymanian streetscape with local artisans, musicians and storytellers, a shore-line nursery as well as Schooner’s Bar and Grill.
Boatswain’s Beach is open seven days a week from 8.30am until 4.30pm. For further information contact the box office at 949-3894.
