Shaune Fraser earned a gold medal for the Cayman Islands in spectacular fashion Thursday at the Central American and Caribbean Games in Cartagena, Colombia. Fraser won the 200M freestyle final, smashing the record by almost nearly two seconds. His time of 1:49:84 easily took down the old mark of 1:51:71. The second-place swimmer clocked 1:51:16.
Fraser is a Cayman Islands Olympian (Athens, 2004). He attended high school in Florida last year and established himself as one of the top junior swimmers in America.
He earned an athletic scholarship to the University of Florida in Gainesville and will attend classes their in the fall.
