Gospel Festival season begins

The Gospel Festival will be opening their 2006/2007 season of performances with an opening concert – Leave Me at the Altar.

The event, which will take place this Saturday, is planned to feature popular Canadian gospel artist George Banton.

‘George confesses that he has fallen in love with the Cayman Islands and can’t wait to arrive and perform for one of his favourite audiences,’ the release stated. ‘Everyone is in for a treat as Mr. Banton is known for his soul stirring performances in his unique style.’

George Banton has released numerous albums spanning his 35-year musical career and has performed across the Caribbean, Canada and the US. Although he branched out into R&B for a brief period of time, the singer has remained true to his gospel roots.

The event will feature Carol Carradice, from Jamaica, past Gospel Festival winners and the Hands of Life Puppet Ministry.

Tickets cost $15 pre-paid, available from Funky Tangs, Christian Enlightment Centre and Corner Restaurant, $20 at the gate.

Gospel Festival entry forms for 2007 will be available at the concert venue. All interested in entering the finals must collect their forms on the night.
