With the new academic year set to commence shortly, students, parents and teachers of government schools are advised of the following:
An orientation session will be held at the Grand Cayman Marriott Beach Resort Wednesday at 9am for all new staff members (teachers as well as administrators) from among all schools on Grand Cayman.
Orientation for staff on Cayman Brac will be managed by the Teacher’s Centre.
This will be followed by a School Planning Day on Friday at all government schools on Grand Cayman and Cayman Brac. All teachers, administrators and other staff are expected to attend sessions at their respective schools.
Government schools will resume during the first week of September, as follows:
For new primary school students on Grand Cayman, school commences on Monday, 4 September with a half-day orientation session. Parents are encouraged to accompany new students to their classrooms.
The new student orientation session ends at 12.30pm, when all students should be collected from respective schools. Thereafter, school closure is at 3pm for all public schools.
New Cayman Brac students will be informed of their school orientation times.
For Grand Cayman’s primary school students (Years 1 to 6), the new Year 7 of George Hicks School and the new Year 10 of John Gray High School, classes commence on Tuesday, 5 September.
All other students should be in school on Wednesday, 6 September.
On Cayman Brac, all primary school students in Years 1to 6 should report for classes on Tuesday, 5 September.
Cayman Brac High School resumes on Wednesday, 6 September. Cayman Brac parents will be contacted directly regarding the date for student orientation and placement examination.
The Prospect Primary School advises parents and guardians of students that the uniform shop will be open from Monday, 28 August, from 11.30am to 6.30 pm.
Parents who have paid in advance are advised to bring in the receipts as proof of payment. Uniforms will not be issued without receipts.
The John Gray High School Uniform Shop schedule is as follows: Monday, Wednesday and Friday 11am to 4pm; Saturday 10am to 2pm, until Sept. 9.
