Health Services issues bulletin

With the Hurricane Watch declared for the Cayman Islands in connection with TS Ernesto, the Health Services has issued the following bulletin:

DIALYSIS PATIENTS

All dialysis patients should immediately make contact with the Dialysis Unit to make arrangements to be dialysized.

MEDICATION

Patients with chronic diseases such as diabetes, heart diseases, asthma, lung diseases or hypertension and who require additional medication should check now to ensure you have sufficient quantities. If you require additional supplies please contact the nearest District Health Centre or the Cayman Islands Hospital Pharmacy for refills. Call 244-2715 giving your full name, name of the medication(s) and the prescription number(s).

MATERNITY PATIENTS

The Cayman Islands Hospital Maternity Unit will accept women who are eight months or more pregnant or who have been identified as having a high risk pregnancy. Patients must be pre-registered for delivery in order to be. You must consult your physician before coming to the hospital. Please call the Maternity Unit prior to departing for the hospital to be sure the hospital is accepting patients. In an emergency situation, please consult your physician or call 911.

EMERGENCY MEDICAL TREATMENT

The Cayman Islands Hospital Accident & Emergency Unit will remain open 24 hours for emergency medical treatment. All other clinics and services will be closed as of 6:00 p.m. today.

STAFF ALERT

All Health Services staff are asked to contact their sections/units for information and staffing schedules as soon as possible.

The Health Services is reminding the public that the Cayman Islands Hospital is NOT an option for general sheltering during a hurricane.
