The Partners and Staff of PricewaterhouseCoopers have donated CI$2,342 to the general fund of the Cayman Islands Cancer Society. The funds were raised in connection with Michael Baker’s participation in Ironman USA held in Lake Placid, NY this last July 23, 2006. For those not familiar with the Ironman, it is a triathlon which involves swimming – 2.4 miles, Biking – 112 miles and a marathon at the end measuring 26.2 miles for a grand total of 140.6 miles in one day. Participants have 17 hours to finish the race. It was a grueling test for Mike especially since he has severe arthritis which forced him to walk the marathon which took him 7 hours to complete that portion of the race. Mike finished in just over 16.5 hours.

The donation was made by the Partners and Staff because we have all lost loved ones to Cancer including Peter O’Neill just this last year who was a fellow triathlete and a friend to many of us across the Cayman Islands.
Christine Sanders, General Manager of the Cancer Society, expressed her appreciation to the partners and staff of PricewaterhouseCoopers and especially to Michael who did the hard work. She said support from the community is vital for the Society to offer the many programs that it offers to the community including the financial assistance that it offers to cancer patients and their families.
