Wednesday evening I was listening to Straight Talk on Hot 104.1 and there was a caller who commented on the numerous benefits of solar energy.
The caller referred to the cost for a gallon of diesel and a gallon of propane as compared to a day of Cayman sunshine, and then it hit me; why am I paying for electricity or gas every month for fuel to run my appliances when the sun delivers it to me for free?
Every day the cost of living increases on the island but so does the sun; it has been rising in the east and setting in the west for 4.5 billion years now and has never increased it rates for the fuel adjustment factor or hit us up for hurricane recovery fees. How’s that for customer service? It is also cleaner, quieter, cheaper, and can free us from our 100 per cent dependence on fossil fuels.
Are there any government initiatives or incentives for alternative energies in Cayman like there are in other islands of the Caribbean and throughout the world?
