The Cayman Islands Humane Society is desperately seeking homes for three homeless kitties who have all had a very unfortunate start in life.

All three are currently recovering at Island Veterinary Services, after receiving much needed and life saving treatment, said a Humane Society press release.
‘Little Tabby John was hit by a car and suffered head injuries, but has recovered well and is healthy enough to find a new start in life. He has an affectionate personality and needs someone to take care of him and make sure he never strays near a road again,’ the release said.
Pirate is an adult male calico cat, who arrived with an irreparable injury to his right eye, which had to be removed through surgery.
‘This doesn’t slow him down. He is a lovely cat who likes other cats but is not terribly fond of dogs. This guy is extra special and looking for a lot of love now to make up for the loss of his eye,’ the release said.
Philadelphia is a very friendly and affectionate adult male cat who has the feline version of AIDS (FIV). Although this disease is not transferable to humans or dogs, it can be transferred to other cats and therefore he needs to be at home alone and kept as an indoor-only cat.
‘Don’t let his condition put you off. He will lead a full, happy life, and is an adorable cat looking for his forever home,’ the release said.
The Humane Society noted that a lot of cats are injured or killed on the roads of Cayman, or are unfortunate enough to contract diseases through contact with other cats.
The Society is urging all cat owners to take care of their pets by minimising and monitoring any amount of time their pets spend outside.
‘Cats live full and happy lives kept indoors and cat harnesses and leashes are available at pet stores should owners wish to take their cats outside for some fresh air and a change of scenery safely. Just by taking some simple precautions owners can avoid their own pet suffering the way John, Pirate and Philadelphia have,’ the release said.
‘These three cats deserve a chance of love and a home, despite their past and their ailments. The Cayman Islands Humane Society believes, given the right loving environment, these three cute kits will just thrive and live out their lives purring contentedly.’
