Big Brothers Big Sisters tee off for Cayman’s youth

The Cayman Islands chapter of the world-renowned mentoring organisation, Big Brothers Big Sisters, is hosting its first Annual Golf Tournament on Friday, 27 October at the Britannia Golf Course.

Big Brothers Big Sisters is a model-mentoring program that offers support to families, especially to single parents, with children who are in need of more adult supervision and care than their parents are able to provide.

Since 1985, the Caymanian community, including parents, teachers and social workers have been utilising the services offered by the organisation, and with over 40 matches throughout Cayman, the benefits are being noticed.

Companies or individuals wishing to participate in the Golf Tournament can contact John Thompson at 914-1218 to register. Tee-off time is at 1pm.

For $600, a corporate sponsor or two can bring a four-player team, have use of a cart and see their company name and logo displayed at one of the holes of the tournament, in the brochure and on the Sponsor Acknowledgement Board. Refreshments will be provided on the course, and teams and individuals are eligible to win a variety of prizes.

In the event that a company cannot attend, an option to get involved would be to sponsor a hole at the tournament. For $200, the company would see their logo and name displayed at a hole, be included on the brochure and the Sponsor Acknowledgement Board and be able to help Big Brothers Big Sisters in a big way.

For $100 donation of a cash prize, or gift of equal value, one could see their donation used as a raffle item. All donors will be included in the Golf Tournament Brochure.

A number of local companies have already pledged their support to raise funds for Cayman’s children; these include Quin & Hampson, Walkers, Foster’s Food Fair and Caribbean Utilities Company.
