Queen’s Birthday nominations sought

Governor Stuart Jack is inviting nominations for the Queen’s Birthday Honours 2007.

The period for nominations closes Wednesday, 15 November. Forms can be picked up at the Government Administration Building on Elgin Avenue, or requested by email from [email protected].

Once completed, nomination forms must be submitted to the Governor’s Office on Fort and North Church streets, where they will be received confidentially. It is recommended that persons submitting nominations should make every effort to complete the forms.

The Governor’s Office has advised that having performed long service is not enough to make a person eligible for honours.

‘Nominations must be supported by a persuasive account of the outstanding or innovative or self-sacrificing services and achievements of the nominee, whether paid or unpaid, in one field or several, and what has raised them above those of others performing similar services,’ the Governor’s Office said.

Recommendations for the Certificate and Badge of Honour are decided upon locally, and final decisions on names put forward for Officer of the Order of the British Empire and Member of the Order of the British Empire are made in the UK.

The Governor’s Office has additionally said that all submitted recommendations will be acknowledged, but staff will not enter into correspondence on action taken on them.

For any further information contact the Governor’s Office on 244-2401.
