Vibe celebrates turning five

Vibe will celebrate its fifth anniversary, with a celebratory bash – V5 – on Friday, 1 December at Fort Street.

V5, presented by bMobile and Heineken, will mark Vibe’s five years of high quality Caribbean broadcasting in the Cayman Islands. As in years past, there will be a line-up of performers, DJs, personalities, food and partying.

Irie FM personality G.T. Taylor – whose hype musical selections have graced stages across Jamaica, the Caribbean and North America – will get the crowd moving for V5. Taylor is widely considered to be one of Jamaica’s reigning entertainers. His versatile selection skills and contagious stage personality have earned him compeering duties on such stages as Reggae Sunsplash, Reggae Sumfest, Reggae Bash, Sting and others. He is a 13-year veteran of Irie FM in Jamaica and the Dancehall Master is a powerful addition to the V5 roster.

Alongside G.T. Taylor, the Vibe DJs will be on hand to bring in the anniversary, spinning the latest tunes. Fans can tune in to Vibe FM to hear when and in which section their favourite Vibe DJ will be showcasing his skills.

The key this year – along with the fantastic artists on the line-up – will be the chance to win huge prizes.

Fabulous new mobile phones from Cable and Wireless will be on offer, as well as a chance to travel the very same weekend to Montego Bay, Jamaica, expenses paid. The winners will be announced at the event and will get their tickets, hotel confirmation and itinerary the same night; for travel the following day.

Partiers will have the chance to send picture text messages and win prizes, courtesy of Cable and Wireless bMobile. Models will travel the event site, taking picture text messages of partiers. Projection screens will show the photos and winners will be randomly drawn for prize cell phones.

‘Thanks to our sponsors, this is a truly exciting opportunity for winners of any nationality. Everyone loves Mo’ Bay!’ Kenny Rankin Vibe 98.9 FM managing director said.

With his radio station at the top of its game, Mr. Ranking is looking at his upcoming fifth anniversary celebration with pride and joy.

‘As the Vibe turns five-years-old, we are yet again celebrating the music and radio programming that has characterized a successful year in radio. In a time when our country is changing and growing, the Vibe is proudly giving Cayman’s community a voice,’ he said. ‘You get to a point in radio where your station and audience become one.
