A new Diabetes Support Group is being launched tomorrow evening at the Elmslie Memorial Church Hall from 5pm until 6pm.
Everyone living with diabetes, people pre-disposed to diabetes or family members or friends of those living with diabetes are invited to attend and become a part of the group.
The agenda for the first meeting is exciting and is geared to appeal to all age groups. Healthy refreshments will be served and various health books will be available for sale.
In a community that is largely affected by diabetes, organisers of this event, led by Ms Christina Rowlandson, are keen to address the major concerns for diabetics.
The key objectives of the support group are: the development of a support network; reduction in the stigma associated with the condition; education on healthful-living; reflection on the word of God; updates on a cure; and prevention.
