There is a lot of talk right now about the book and movie: The Secret.
This book is about how we can manifest the reality of what we want and need in life through the law of attraction.
For example, if we think positive, happy thoughts, we will attract positive, happy experiences. You may have heard it said that in order to be rich, one must feel rich, portray being rich, act rich. By doing so, we shall attract wealth – a nice thought.
We can take this principle of the law of attraction and apply it to our goals of losing weight and developing a healthy lifestyle. Actually, we have been using this process throughout the workshops and seminars here in Cayman Lifestyles classes since the beginning as I personally used this creative process to achieve major weight loss many years ago. It works.
Visualizing yourself in a smaller size or in a more active lifestyle can bring about a sense of hope and enthusiasm which has a dynamic effect on our actions and habits.
The weight-watching lady who thinks ahead to an early morning walk the next day is far more likely to follow through than a woman who never sees ahead or plans ahead.
If the law of attraction works, (we must each decide for ourselves), those people lamenting that they are a ‘bread person’ are actually actively involved in their own condition of being attracted to eating too much bread simply by believing they are a ‘bread person’.
Cognitions (thoughts) have power and become part of a self-fulfilling prophecy by the thoughts we think, words we speak and resulting action we take.
If you think you can succeed, you will. If you think you can’t, that’s pretty much the conclusion and you won’t.
In mapping your own path to successful, healthy living, take a few moments to think about what you are thinking about. What is your attitude about the foods that are most beneficial to your good health, about exercise? What thoughts come to mind when you think about losing weight?
Then envision where you want to be. If you want to be slimmer, see yourself taking the very actions to bring this about.
We are co-creators in life gifted with a powerful tool – imagination.
Imagine how you would like to feel, walk, stand and live life in your healthy body.
Imagine – dare to dream.
It worked for me.
