Public Works continues training

The Public Works Department has commenced phase two of its planned 5,000 man-hour training.

Over the next three weeks 30 technicians from two of the department’s units – Building Construction and Mechanical, Electrical and Plumbing Services – will participate in this major training exercise aimed at certifying them in core competencies in their areas of specialisation, states a GIS press release.

‘This is the most ambitious of all our training initiatives because it’s intended to improve the skill sets of our core technicians,’ said PWD Human Resources Manager Benjamin Waysome. ‘We hope that as a result of this training PWD will enhance the quality of its service delivery to our customers.’

The workshop, which started 26 February, is being offered as a joint effort by the Public Works Department, University College of the Cayman Islands and Jamaica’s Human Employment and Resource Training National Vocational Agency.
