The Triathlon Association Membership Chairman, Larry Walters, and World Gym owner, Tertius Broderick, teamed up to add 45 members of the Triathlon Association as one year members of World Gym. This addition follows 33 members that obtained a one year membership in August, 2006.
Not only will The Cayman Islands Triathlon Association (CITA) members use the many amenities at World Gym to stay in shape and prepare for competition, but World Gym has also invited CITA to conduct its regular monthly meetings at World Gym. ‘We are excited to welcome another group of dedicated athletes to our facility and hope to assist the triathletes to reach their goals, whether cardiovascular or strength oriented’ says Tertius Broderick.
CITA is a non-profit organization and a member of the International Triathlon Association. CITA has 150 members, and distributes an e-mail newsletter to 450 people, most of which reside in the Cayman Islands. CITA hosts more than 20 races a year, to include its premier Olympic distance race which in 2007 is scheduled for November 25, 2007. In order to inspire/assist its members, CITA produces a Weekly Training Schedule, an On-Island Events Calendar that describes running, swimming, and cycling events, and an International Race Calendar. Members participate in races in Canada, the USA and Europe.
CITA welcomes individuals of all levels and backgrounds, from beginner to experienced triathlete. Membership dues are a nominal CI$10, although all interested parties living in the Cayman Islands are invited and encouraged to participate in CITA events.
