Mothersill wins 100m race in Japan

Cydonie Mothersill started her 2007 outdoor season in great fashion with a victory over Lauryn Williams of the United States over 100 meters at Osaka, Japan, Saturday in a time of 11.33 seconds.Williams clocked 11.44 for runnerup honours.

A meet scheduled for Clemson University was cancelled, so Tyrell Cuffy and the King College Tornado stayed in-state to travel to the University of Tennessee for a Twilight meet.
Tyrell came up against tough opponents in his heat as he went head-to-head against U.S. international representative Mickey Grimes and seven-time Tennessee All-American Rubin Williams.

Tyrell finished very creditably in third behind the two more experienced sprinters, and fourth overall, in a time of 10.65 seconds.

The Tornado 4 x 100 squad turned in a season’s best in scoring a victory at 41.65 seconds.

Omar Wright is leading the Conference USA rankings in the men’s high jump, and he will have
“home court” advantage as his school, Rice University, hosts the conference championships this coming weekend.

The Sun Belt Conference championships are also on tap at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette this weekend, and no word has been received as yet concerning the possible participation of Carl and Carlos Morgan.
