Cayman Islands swimmers will once again be assisting children in need around the world this Saturday, May 12th, by participating in the 5th Annual Butterfield Bank 800m sea swim. The Cayman Islands Amateur Swimming Association will donate $5 per registered swimmer to ‘Cayman Loves Children’, a local charity that raises money for UNICEF. Registration for the Butterfield Bank 800m sea swim will take place in the Governor’s beach parking lot from 3:00-3:45pm, for a 4:00pm start.
Swimmers of all abilities are encouraged to take part in the race, with all registrants receiving Butterfield Bank swim-caps, t-shirts, and pizza. Sports drinks and water are being supplied by Gatorade and Le Bleu. By popular demand, age groups have been expanded in the 30 to 39 and 40 to 49 year age groups, as well as the addition of an award for swimmers aged 70 years and over. The top-three finishers in each age group will be awarded trophies. Registration fees are $10.00 (adults) $5.00 (youth) for swim association members; $15.00 (adults), $10.00 (youth) for non-members.
