Cydonie Mothersill took third place in the women’s 100 meter dash in Oslo,Norway last Friday at the Bislett Games as the IAAF Golden League competition series opened.
The race was extremely close as Stephanie Durst of the United States was declared the winner in 11.22 seconds, with Sherie-Ann Brooks of Jamaica runnerup in 11.23.
Cydonie and fourth-placer Kim Gaevert of Belgium were both timed in 11.25, while Debbie Ferguson-Mackenzie of the Bahamas clocked 11.27.
Cydonie has maintained her fourth place ranking in the IAAF World lists for the 200 meter dash, and she holds tenth position for the 100 meters.
In the World Athletic Tour scoring she is tied for seventh in both the 100 and 200.
The NAIA has announced its selection of All-American performers for the 2007 Outdoor Track and Field season.
Included is Tyrell Cuffy of King College who achieved this status in both the 200 meter dash and the 4×100 meter relay categories.
At the Nike Outdoor National High School Track and Field Championships in Greensboro, North Carolina last weekend, Sean Troop and his Brooklyn South Shore High School relay teammates turned in some truly high-standard performances.
In the 4×100 with Sean running the anchor leg, South Shore placed fourth in the finals in a time of 41.56.
At 4×200, he switched to the leadoff leg, and the result was a runnerup clocking of 1:26.18.
With Sean again running leadoff in the 4×400, the South Shore foursome mustered a time of 3:14.20, which brought them third-place honours.
