After a three year absence, the Cayman National Cultural Foundation’s Arts and Cultural Awards Gala returns at 7.30pm Wednesday.
The event recognises those who have made a mark on Caymans’ culture. Until February of 2004 the awards show had been an annual event for 12 years. In the aftermath of Hurricane Ivan however, the awards presentation was suspended.
The Arts and Cultural Awards recognize those who have pursued and achieved excellence in the arts, including craft. It also recognizes those who have made a contribution to arts and culture in general and the work of CNCF in particular.
The awards presented this year are: Artistic Excellence, Artistic Endeavour, Artistic Achievement, Volunteer of the Year, Corporate Sponsor of the Year, The Cultural Heritage Award and The Chairman’s Award for outstanding contribution to the work of CNCF.
The Arts and Cultural Awards are not limited to work under the auspices of CNCF, but embrace all organizations and reach across the artistic and cultural spectrum. The evening is one of recognition and entertainment for an invited audience at the Harquail Theatre.
