The Lions Club of Grand Cayman roared into action this year by hosting the Pines Retirement Home Birthday Party on 14 July.
The event, organised by the Lion’s Social Services Committee, was also attended by members of the Lions Club of Tropical Gardens and the Leos Club of Grand Cayman.
Pines residents were entertained by Lions and Mr. Renwick Conolly. According to a Lions press release, old-time gospel songs and choruses were given a fresh spin with modern renditions, and residents joined in to sing and read poetry.
Residents and staff celebrating July birthdays each received a gift with refreshments and birthday cake being served to everyone.
Lion President, Lee Ramoon, reminded attendees of the contributions made by residents over the years in their previous walks of life and encouraged greater respect to elders locally.
The Pines Activities Co-ordinator, Mrs. Darlene Piche, voiced the home’s gratitude to the service club for staging the well-received event.
The release added that the Lions are continuing their support by raffling land on the Brac and donating the proceeds to the Pines. Tickets are available from the regular outlets and from Lions members at booths outside at supermarkets each Saturday up until the draw on Friday, 10 August.
