Cayman’s athletes in Shanghai, China at the Special Olympic World Game have completed their competition and have added to their medal-winning performances.
Kevin Anglin made it four for four as he won his division of the shot put with a mark of 5.56 meters to establish the fact that all of Cayman’s representatives will be coming home with at least one gold medal.
Chris Sampson improved his 200 meter time to 24.12 in the final to earn third-place honors in that event.His mark was fourth-best overall of 158 finishers.The two top performers were also in his division.Joseph Mohloka of South Africa was edged by Dmitri Pedan of Kyrgyzstan in the prelims by one one-hundredth of a second (23.64/23.65), but turned the tables in the finals by the exact same amount (23.55/23.56).Only one other competitor, in another divison,at 23.96, bettered Chris’ performance.
The Cayman delegation ended up with a total of 9 podium appearances and six gold medals, 1 silver, and 2 bronze.
