The Ice on Ice event, an annual fundraiser for the Cayman Islands Cancer Society, was held last Wednesday week, raising over $10,000, according to the CICS.
Diamonds were the centre of attention at the sparkling event, with four lucky guests each finding a half carat diamond cocooned in the ice in their drinks. For those who weren’t luck enough to win a diamond, Island Companies showcased a selection of dazzling jewels.
Other prizes included a trip to Tampa with three nights at the Westin – courtesy of Z99 and the Westin – won by Stacie Hood, and a 52 inch Mitsubishi DLP HDTV – courtesy of Brand Source Home and Office City – won by Marcus Stafford.
An elaborate ice bar set the tone for the evening, while a team of florists from Every Bloomin’ Thing transformed the lobby with extravagant floral displays.
Attended by some 300 guests, entertainment during the night was provided by local band Intransit, playing a selection of smooth jazzy beats, while DJ Craig of OneWorld Entertainment spun an eclectic mix poolside.
Christine Sanders, general manager at the CICS, said she was delighted with the success of the event.
‘The event was fantastic, and once again exceeded our expectations. It was obvious everyone had a great time.
‘We were also thrilled that one of our volunteers, Linda Mohammed, was one of the winners of the diamonds.’
