CIHS Christmas cards out

The Cayman Islands Humane Society has unveiled three colourful designs for its annual Christmas card fundraiser.

The designs are the culmination of an art contest the society held earlier this year, inviting youngsters throughout the three islands to draw a picture titled Cayman Pets at Christmas.

The three first prize winners from each age category have had their artwork made in to cards to be sold throughout the season with the profits benefiting the many homeless animals at the shelter on North Sound Road.

The winning designs include a beautiful nativity scene, featuring a cat, dog and parrot drawn by Clement Paschalides in the 4-6 year group; a contented dog and cat napping in a boat on the turquoise Caribbean Sea surrounded by turtles, starfish and crabs drawn by Georgia Austin in the 7-11 year group; and a Cayman parrot in a Christmas tree by Mark Ebanks in the 12-16 year group.

The cards are being sold in packs of 12 containing four cards of the three different designs for $15 a pack. They are available at the Humane Society Animal Shelter Reception, Book Loft Book Shop and Claws-It Thrift Shop.

Special sales will also be held throughout the holiday season at a variety of locations.
