Nominations open for Queen’s Honours

Governor Stuart Jack is inviting members of the public to submit nominations for the Queen’s Birthday Honours 2008.

The deadline for nominations is Monday, 19 November. Forms may be picked up at the Government Administration Building on Elgin Avenue, or requested by email from [email protected].

Submit completed nomination forms to the Governor’s Office at the AAL Building, corner of Fort and North Church streets, where they will be received confidentially. Persons submitting nominations should make every effort to complete the forms as fully as possible.

With regard to eligibility, long service is not enough to make a person eligible for honours. ‘Nominations must be supported by a persuasive account of the outstanding, innovative or self-sacrificing services and achievements of the nominee, whether paid or unpaid, in one field or several, and what has raised them above those of others performing similar services,’ the Governor’s Office noted.

Recommendations for the Cayman Islands Certificate and Badge of Honour are decided upon locally. Final decisions on names put forward for Officer of the Order of the British Empire and Member of the Order of the British Empire are made in the UK.

All submitted recommendations will be acknowledged, but the Governor’s staff will not enter into correspondence on action taken on them.

For further information please contact the Governor’s Office on 244-2401.
