Event to raise ‘green’ awareness

Global Green Caribbean – a new environmentalist group dedicated to promoting ‘green’ initiatives such as conservation, recycling and reducing pollution – is hosting a fundraiser, Saturday, 17 November.

Proceeds from the event, from 7.30pm at the Lions Centre, will go towards building a recycling centre for paper, plastic, aluminium and glass.

The black-tie event kicks-off with a cocktail reception at 7pm, followed by a three course dinner, catered for by the Westin resort, and music by Adrienne Frantz and local jazz band Triple Play.

During the event, Global Green Caribbean members will do a presentation about recycling, focusing primarily on how it will affect Cayman and the future of the islands.

The event will be hosted by Annie Wood, host of the dating show BZZZ and Tammy from the hit comedy Becker. In addition environmental activists, Jason Chambers – host of the Discovery channel hit series Human Weapon and Kyle from As The World Turns – Kamar Reyes of One Life to Live and Sherri Saum of Rescue Me, will each give a short speech on the importance of going ‘green’.

Tickets are $100 or $175 per couples. Groups of 10 tickets are $80 each. Call 525-2982.
