UCCI inspires student business

A group of students enrolled in the Principles of Business class at the University College of the Cayman Islands designed and executed a business as part of their term project.

The students formed a company called ‘Kry8tions’, which focuses on selling UCCI inspired T-shirts reflective of both the university and the Cayman Islands. Similar to how large universities across the world sell school memorabilia, Kry8tions wanted to provide a product that would instil school spirit, country affiliation and also empower current students to feel proud of their educational, personal, and professional pursuits.

‘We want students, staff, faculty, and residents of the Cayman Islands to be proud of UCCI,’ explained Stacy Dawkins, Kry8tions’ marketing assistant. ‘The university currently has approximately 3000 students, and continues to grow. By making these T-shirts, we wanted to share our school spirit, and represent UCCI as well as the Cayman Islands.’

In capturing the look and style for the T-shirts, the students collaborated with well-known Caymanian designer, Luigi Moxam of One 345 Collection. Moxam’s own clothing line is a hit with residents and tourists, and the students believe that his creativity brings a fresh and appealing look to the Kry8tions T-shirts.

‘I’m happy for the opportunity to work with these students and design a t-shirt that reflects UCCI and the Cayman Islands,’ commented Moxam.

The Kry8tions T-shirts have met tremendous success, selling out their first order. However, the savvy students ensure that orders for a second run of these limited edition t-shirts are still being placed, and encourage the community to show their support by placing an order with sales representatives at 329-1782.
