With a fresh new look, re-vamped menu and one of Cayman’s only wood fired pizza brick ovens, the newly-opened The Brickhouse, is hoping to be a hit with diners looking for something different.
‘The concept is to make the restaurant more inviting,’ said manager John Mack. ‘Before it was focused on high-end dining. We want it to be more casual and family-orientated.’
Located at the former location of the Blackpearl Galley, the restaurant, which is now under new management and ownership, offers an ample menu with something for everyone.
Diners can choose from a selection of appetizers and salads, including French onion soup, calamari and spinach and artichoke dip. For those looking for a light bite, there’s a large selection of hearty oven-baked sandwiches all under $10 and served with seasoned wedge fries. Pizza’s cater to all tastes, from the most adventurous to conservative, and come on a choice of regular or whole-wheat. A weekly featured gourmet pizza gives diners even more choice. On Tuesdays, diners can enjoy two for one pizza specials.
The priciest specialities include braised lamb shank, for $17.50 and full-rack of Barcardi flavoured barbeque ribs, one of the restaurant’s signature dishes. Other options include sesame crusted tuna, served with seasonal vegetables, basmati rice and a wasabi cream sauce, and West Indian curry, served with saffron rice, pappadums and mango chutney, from $12.
Children are well-catered for on the kid’s menus. For just $5.50, there’s a choice of child-friendly dishes, including baked macaroni and cheese, chicken fingers with fries, and noodles with marinara sauce.
There’s plenty to tempt everyone on the dessert menu too, including apple pie, cheese cake and ice cream.
For those who would rather enjoy the comforts of home, the restaurant offers a take out service too.
The New Year will see the restaurant launch a brunch, every Saturday and Sunday.
The Brickhouse is open for lunch and dinner seven days a week.
Lovers of coffee can now enjoy a mug of their favourite steaming brew, at the newly opened Brewhouse, located next door to The Brickhouse.
Under the same management as the restaurant, the coffee shop, serves Cuban coffee Cubita, alongside a selection of smoothies, shakes, pastries, muffins, cookies and freshly-made sandwiches.
Catering to the morning crowd, the Brewhouse also offers a selection of ‘Express Breakfast’ options, including a breakfast special – two eggs, bacon, ham or sausage, toast and hash browns – for just $5, and stuffed croissants, including a choice of ham and cheese, spinach and feta, scrambled eggs and strawberries and cream.
Customers can enjoy a coffee and snack to go, or eat at one of the tables inside or out on the patio.
The Brewhouse is open from 7am, Monday to Friday, and from 8am to 7pm, Saturday and Sunday.
