The Lions Club of Tropical Gardens inducted four new members to its fold on 21 January, increasing its membership to 49.
LCTG welcomed Althea Williams (sponsored by Lion President Cheryl Bell); Beth Taylor and Patricia McCord (sponsored by Lion Pat Bazell-Taylor); and Nereen Thomas (sponsored by Lion Belinda Blessitt Vincent).
In inducting the new Lions, Membership Director Judith Witter stressed the benefits of becoming a member of Lions International. She told the inductees that as Lion Club members they can make a difference everyday in their community; can provide support locally or reach out internationally; grow personally and professionally by participating in Lions’ programmes, community service projects and events; and have an impact on local and international humanitarian issues.
Newly inducted Lion Beth Taylor said that it was a great honour for her and the other Lions to join this dynamic organization and that they would live up to their pledges ‘To Serve’ and to try as best as they could to answer the needs and challenges in the community.
These pledges tie in with what the Founder of Lions Club International, Melvin Jones, believed in, that of Lions expanding their horizon from purely professional concerns to the betterment of their communities and the world at large.
The ceremony was symbolic as January is celebrated as Founders Month in the Lions family calendar
