Humane Society gets a boost

The Cayman Islands Humane Society has received a cash boost of CI$10,480 thanks to the generosity of Kirk Supermarket customers and Kirkconnell Brothers.

The donation is the culmination of Kirk Kurrency vouchers contributed by customers over a six month period. The final amount was then matched cent for cent by Kirkconnell Brothers Ltd.

The Kirk Kurrency Programme, which started in 1998, has so far donated around $50,000 to various charities within the community, selecting only two recipient local charities per year ensuring each one receives a substantial gift.

The amount received can be used in either Kirk Supermarket or Home Centre.

The Humane Society will be able to take full advantage of the donation as it is looking to renovate the current animal shelter in the next year.

‘This donation is a wonderful boost,’ said Carolyn Parker, president of the Cayman Islands Humane Society. ‘We are always in need of repairs and renovations at our shelter and this money will certainly go a long way to help us with numerous projects we have lined up.

‘On behalf of all our animals we’d like to thank Kirkconnell Brothers Ltd and the customers of Kirk Supermarket for their generosity.’
