Couple makes dive for dollars

Brad and Linda Bishop thought they’d do something different during National Heroes Day weekend last month and decided to go Diving for Dollars.

But diving for this couple didn’t mean going underwater – it meant jumping 18,000 feet from a plane in a tandem skydive – the highest tandem jump in the world.

Brad and Linda got their friends and colleagues involved in the jump by asking them to make donations to the Cayman Islands Cancer Society. And the couple have just handed over the proceeds, more than CI$3,000, to the Society.

Christine Sanders, chief operating officer of the Society, says she really admires Brad and Linda for doing the dive and thanked them for choosing the Cancer Society as the beneficiary. She also extended the gratitude of the Society to everyone who supported and sponsored the couple.

The Cayman Islands Cancer Society is a non-profit organization dedicated to preventing the development of cancer through its education programs and screening initiatives. It also provides financial assistance for treatment related expenses and offers counselling and support to cancer patients and their families.

The Society funds its programs through donations and fundraising events. For more information call 949-7618 or email [email protected]
