Deadline is Thursday
The deadlines for two Cayfest competitions are just around the corner.
The Cayfest Literary Arts and the Cayfest Photography Competition closes to entries on 13 March.
Organized by the Cayman National Cultural Foundation for Cayfest 2008, both competitions are judged by select panels of judges. Winning photographers are awarded cash prizes at the Cayfest Art Exhibit and Sale at the National Gallery on 3 April. The winning writers are awarded cash prizes at the Literary Arts Awards and Reading at the University College of the Cayman Islands on 4 April.
Work submitted to the Literary Arts Competition can be poetry or short stories. Short stories are limited to 2,000 words. Writers can summit two entries in each category. Judging is based on: content (development of theme, accuracy, portrayal of events or situations); expression (creativity, stylistic features, entertainment value); and mechanics (grammar, structure, spelling, punctuation, clarity, presentation).
Writers may choose any topic for their poem or story but are encouraged to write on topics relevant to Cayman.
