As soon as pets are not considered ‘property” and are considered a responsibility maybe some things will change.
I have always thought that the person having guardianship over the pet should be licensed – not the pet. You must have a license to drive a car to keep the public safe, so why not be licensed to have a pet to keep the public safe? And the mentality that euthanasia is a form of population control must be changed or nothing will improve.
We must reach the children; there is no help for the adults of today who think that the way it was years and years ago is the same way it should be today. Not in the animal world.
