Beres Hammond is sure to give off good vibes this weekend and car racing is set to carry on the feelings.
The Cayman Motorsports Association (CMA) will be hosting its monthly time attack race. The event will happen on Saturday 26 April at 8pm.
Racing will take place behind Progressive Distributors on Sparky Drive off North Sound Rd. Sign up and inspection begins from Saturday at 6:45pm and the deadline to register will be 7:45pm on race night.
Tony’s Toys will be the sponsor for this month’s race. Race officials say the company will award gift certificates to the winners in the different categories.
Cars are expected to be split into four different classes: front-wheel, rear-wheel and all-wheel drive plus unlimited.
The public is invited to attend and watch the action. Anyone can participate, provided they use their own vehicle and pay the entrance fee of CI$20.
Cars will be expected to pass a technical inspection. This inspection is compulsory for all CMA-sanctioned races. It consists of checking the car’s components such as the suspension and brakes plus ensuring drivers use a three-point seat belt harness and street-legal tires.
Winners will be determined according to time, speed and skill points. Last month, Keith P. Tibbetts III won the event with his blue Subaru Impreza Sti.
For this month’s race, racers will once again face stiff competition. Tibbetts has reportedly altered his suspension in the hopes of cutting fast corners. Also both the Tony’s Toys Civic and Evolution III are slated to contend for victory lane.
This month’s time attack, entitled ‘Night Battle 3’, is the fourth of the year. Races were held once a month for the last three months. Races are scheduled to be at the end of every month for the rest of the year.
