Rotary Sunrise enrols youngster

Seven year old Zoe Conolly daughter of Marilyn Conolly and Dax Basdeo has been regularly attending Rotary SUNRISE breakfast meetings on Wednesdays before attending school at Montessori by the Sea.

She has watched several new Sunrise Rotary members being inducted and she wondered why she didn’t have a badge like everybody else.

She is just a trifle young to join just yet – but after some careful research, club secretary Michael Levitt discovered that there was a club that welcomed young members, RotaKids. So he arranged for her to be made an honorary member of the original RotaKids club being the RotaKids Club of Jensen Beach Elementary in Florida.

Zoe is the first member from Cayman and hopefully she will progress through Interact (for 14 to 18 year olds), Rotaract (for 18 till 30 year olds) and finally Rotary Sunrise.

Rotary Sunrise was chartered in 2002. It has almost 100 members (25 lady members – 26 with Zoe) from Cayman and 21 other countries in the world. Members are mostly young professionals having fun helping in the Community.
