Cato leads team on Bermuda tour

Shane Cato is captaining the Cayman Islands Under-15 cricket team to the ICC Americas championships in Bermuda.

The team travelled on Friday and returns August 10. Other competing teams are Bermuda, Canada, USA and Bahamas.

Fast bowler Dale Parker is the vice-captain. It’s the first time for both youngsters in leadership positions. This is a great opportunity for this group who were selected from the Secondary Schools Coaching and Competitions programme.

Cato, an all-rounder, said: ‘This is a learning period for us and we are happy for the opportunity. We hope to perform well. We wish to specially thank Coach Andy Myers for his assistance in our preparation.’
