Seven Caymanian students returned home this summer and worked as interns at the Department of Tourism.
The interns are students of different schools, studying various subjects and include Brian Trickett, Amanda Berry, Kristina Wright, Lani Bothwell, Joshua Clark, Vanessa Polack, and Chantal Byrd. They joined the Marketing, E-Business, Public Relations, PRIDE, Human Capital Development, and Research and Statistics teams within the DoT, said a press release.
With exposure to and involvement in DoT’s events, such as the Cayman Knockout Championship Boxing, the PRIDE initiative, and the Fresh Air Fund trip, the interns all gained the hands-on professional experience essential for success in the workforce.
‘I appreciate the opportunity that the Department of Tourism gave me and as one of the Ministry of Tourism scholars, I was more than happy to take on a job as a summer intern,’ says Amanda Berry. ‘As a Marketing Major studying at Florida International University, I was looking forward to gaining some experience that would further help me in my career and definitely achieved that here at the DoT.’
