Cayman Islands senior cricketers were in sizzling form over the weekend when preparations continued in the form of a 40 overs practice match.
Physical training began three weeks ago under trainer David Ross but players and spectators alike were eagerly waiting on the matches to begin.
It was an early show of form from Steve Gordon and Ricardo Roach who batted well in an opening partnership of 74 runs for Pearson Best X1.
Gordon and Khemchand Dindyal scored 36 runs each. The pick of the bowlers for Saheed Mohamed X1 was Alessandro Morris who had excellent figures of 8 overs, 4 maidens, 14 runs and one wicket. Ryan Bovell and Roy Hayman took two wickets each.
High level fast bowling from Marlon Bryan had Mohamed X1 on the back foot as he picked up the first 3 wickets in a spell of 5 overs for 26 runs.
Omar Willis bowled extremely well taking 4 wickets for 9 runs in 2.5 overs. Only Keniel Irving to some extent was able to handle the bowling scoring 25 runs.
Technical director Theo Cuffy said: ‘Preparation matches give way for one weekend to the Cayman Islands Masters who will be playing two 20/20 matches and holding general elections this Sunday.
‘Supporters are requested to come out in their numbers and support. Cayman Islands seniors who continue their training on Sunday 21 September.’
