It is time to paws for a cause with the Cayman Islands Humane Society’s upcoming fundraiser, Cocktails at Tiffany’s.
The event will be held on October 17th at the Ritz-Carlton, Grand Cayman. Sponsored by Tiffany’s, the event promises to be a lot of fun.
A fashion show and silent auction will feature many designer items that have been donated to the Society by stores such as Le Classique and Off the Peg and also by individuals via the Society’s thrift store, Claws It.
‘We have a lot of designer items this year,’ said Pamela Hart, the Vice-President and Fundraising Chair for the Society. ‘We have items from Coach, Chanel…items such as handbags and sunglasses.’
Raffle tickets will be sold at the event for $5 each or six for $25, with a number of impressive prizes available.
All models in the fashion show are volunteers and models will include some of the Miss Cayman 2008 contestants, as well as some very special furry friends. A number of dogs from the Humane Society, who have been taking part in a Beach Training programme, will be strutting their stuff on the runway.
The fundraiser is designed as a happy hour event, from 7-9pm. Tickets are $65 each and include two drinks. There will also be canapés served and a cash bar available.
Emceed by Andrew Bacon with Donna Myrie-Stephen coordinating the fashion show, the event has proven in the past to be extremely popular, with over 300 in attendance at last year’s show.
The fashion show is one of the main events of the Society’s fundraising calendar, and Ms Hart has been organising it for a number of months.
‘We start approaching sponsors and donors in March,’ she said.
With an average of over 100 animals living at the shelter at the end of any given month, the funds raised from this event will assist greatly in providing the support and care needed to look after stranded, abused and surrendered animals.
Dress is smart casual and tickets can be purchased at any of the following outlets: Foster’s Food Fair at the Strand or the Airport locations, Off the Peg, Tiffany’s in the Ritz-Carlton, The Humane Society and Le Classique.
Tickets can also be acquired by calling (345) 321-5531 and requesting a drop-off.
