Charles ‘The Killa’ Whittaker had an easy win in the Philippines on Friday night.
The fact that it was Halloween must have added to the scariness for his opponent Jury ‘Bomber’ Noda who was clearly out of his class by the way Whittaker banged him about in the first round.
A sweet left hook ended the fight after one minute and 11 seconds of the second round at the Pearl Centre in Digos, Dava del Sur.
Whittaker, 34, will have a much sterner test if his next proposed bout comes off. It’s against the Commonwealth light-middleweight champion Bradley Pryce and could be fought in Britain in December. Pryce is a member of the Joe Calzaghe camp in Wales and victory over him could catapult Killa into a big money fight next year.
Whittaker said: ‘Noda came in as a late replacement because my original opponent pulled out. He had an upside down record and I did what I had to do. I knocked him out with one punch, a left hook.
‘My training camp was great with my trainer Norman Wilson who I really want to thank and I’d also like to thank Minister of Sport Alden McLaughlin for once again helping me to come out here and prepare for the fight.
‘I also want to thank all the fans in Cayman who texted, phoned and emailed their good wishes before the fight.
‘I will know within a couple of days if I’ll get to fight Pryce soon. I’m really hoping it will come off.’
