Rotaract Blue has awarded vocational grants to local students Carissa McLaughlin and Sherika Hunter.
Ms McLaughlin, a graduate of Victor Dixon High School, will be studying Cosmetology at the Aveda Institute Florida, while Ms. Hunter, a graduate of John Gray High School, has joined UCCI’s Certificate programme to study Accounting.
President Elect Tricia Cacho said: ‘Financial assistance for vocational courses has traditionally been overlooked. I am extremely happy that Rotaract Blue was able to assist both young ladies in fulfilling their dreams.’
Ms McLaughlin and Ms Hunter were grateful for the opportunity that the grants afforded them and encouraged their peers to apply for grants.
‘Anyone interested in studies that aren’t typically sponsored by the mainstream should really consider applying to Rotaract Blue’s grant programme,’ Ms. McLaughlin said.
