Tree festival dates confirmed

The Central Caribbean Marine Institute’s Festival of Trees has confirmed the activities for their expanded week-long schedule.

The Festival of Trees begins on 17 November with a Celebrations’ presentation on The Art of Stylish Christmas Décor.

On 18 November, Abacus Restaurant will host the invite-only VIP PreVue party, which will be held in the Gardenia Court at Camana Bay.

During the VIP PreVue, the red ribbon will be cut to officially open the 2008 Festival of Trees.

The Festival of Trees will then be open to the general public from 19-20 November.

The decorated trees and wreaths will line the walkway at Camana Bay in an area close to Gardenia Court.

The extended event also marks the extended commitment and participation of event sponsors Abacus, Celebrations and Uncle Bill’s.

‘We would like to thank Uncle Bill’s for coming on board this year and donating the majority of the trees that will be decorated by volunteers’, comment Festival of Trees Fundraising Chair, Leslie Bergstrom.

The highlight of the event, the dinner and live auction at Ristorante Pappagallo, will take place on 21 November.

‘Pappagallo has been supporting this event for many years now and without that commitment, we would not be able to grow the way we have in the past year,’ said Ms. Bergstrom.

All proceeds of ticket sales and various auctions will benefit the CCMI and their efforts to sustain marine biodiversity through research, education, public awareness and conservation.
