Wine tasting raises $620

The Brac Branch of the Cayman Islands Humane Society raised $620 recently with a wine tasting at the Brac Reef Governor’s Conference Room.

Branch president Karen Fraser said she was satisfied with the results because this was the group’s first fundraiser of this kind and members weren’t sure how it would go over.

The congenial mix of Brackers, residents of Grand Cayman over for the weekend, and tourists ensured that the event went over well indeed.

Jacques Scott contributed five different wines for guests to sample, along with notes about each variety’s vintage. Greta Tatum’s keyboard wizardry provided upbeat tunes at a volume that could be enjoyed yet didn’t compete with the numerous spirited conversations around the room.

Cayman Islands Humane Society president Carolyn Parker helped host the evening, setting out a delicious array of fruits, cheeses and cold meats to complement the beverages.

As good as the food and drinks were, it was the chance to see old acquaintances, catch up on news and meet recent arrivals to the island that kept guests gathered more than an hour after the advertised timeframe.
