A meeting of the Overseas Territories and Countries Association hosted in Cayman this year will be joined by representatives from several European Commission member states.
The gathering will begin on Wednesday at the Westin Casuarina Hotel for the Overseas Countries and Territories ministers. Further meetings Thursday and Friday will be held with European Commission members including representatives from the UK, Denmark, France and the Netherlands.
The main focus of the meetings will be on future relations among the overseas countries and the European Union concerning matters of trade, environmental protection and the European Development Fund programme.
The Overseas Countries and Territories have met annually for the last seven years. Cayman is serving as the territories association’s ministerial chairman for 2008.
