The second grand prix in the Diamonds International Cayman Islands Junior Tennis Circuit was held at the Cayman Islands Tennis Club in South Sound this past weekend 13-14 February.
Sign-ins for the tournament started promptly at 3:30pm on Friday and matches began at 4pm. The Friday matches were played on all six hard courts at the club.
It was a great beginning to the second tournament in the series.
The circuit was played in round robin format and each match played was best of nine games. This second circuit was arranged by Rob Seward and Adam Bayley, both tennis coaches at the Cayman Islands Tennis Club in South Sound.

‘The children participating did an amazing job and really worked hard in each of their matches’ states Cassandra Pedersen, National Tennis Executive for the Tennis Federation of the Cayman Islands. ‘They all had the will and stamina to keep on playing tennis. The circuit is a great way to prepare for future ITF and overseas tournaments if they choose to participate in them.’
The matches ended around 4pm in the afternoon with an awards ceremony presented by both Rob Seward and Cassandra Pedersen.
Gold trophies were handed out to all first place winners in their age group and silver trophies to all second place winner. There were also Sportsmanship Awards presented to those youth that showed outstanding courtesy, honestly and humbleness in the game of tennis.
