Esso Cubs played like lions as they mauled Paramount DTA by six wickets to take the Division Two 20/20 title.
The match at the Smith Road Oval was not as competitive as expected because Paramount, who batted first, could only muster 86 all out in 19.3 overs.
Robert Moore top scored for Paramount with 21. Best Esso bowlers were Ricardo Roach (2-5) and Wayne Cato (2-17).
Cato outshone his son, Darren, as he hit 15 not out with skipper Omar Willis, 21 not out, as Esso hit the runs with only four wickets lost inside 13 overs.
The third and fourth place play off was a tighter affair between Pro Plus and Greenies.
Pro Plus made a modest 95 all out in 19.2 overs but despite sterling stands by Matthew ‘Texas’ Walker (22) and David Rajarathan (20), Greenies fell short at the end and finished on 82-9. It was mainly the tight bowling and excellent fielding of Pro Plus that kept Greenies in check.
Neil De Vere top scored for Pro Plus with 36 and Tony Higgins hit 20.
Euvin Bryan was Pro Plus’s best bowler with 3-9 and David Ross took 2-12.
Greenies’ best bowlers were Chris Troskie (4-19) and Mark Randall (2-13).
