CML and Coolers on top

The playoffs for the Winter Adult Co-Ed Softball League continue tonight.

The Field of Dreams will be a buzz for a trio of entertaining match-ups starting at 8:30pm.

One of the games sees a pair of A league teams do battle as the Coolers (7-5) battle KM Ltd (2-10).

Coolers come into the match riding high off of their late-season push. The side played well down the stretch and locked up the Breadfruit division title.

A big part of their success was their offense, which knocked out 186 runs in the season (second-most in the A league).

Coolers are heavy favourites tonight not only with the bat but in the field as well. The side has arguably played better defense as KM has allowed the second most runs (163) in the A league.

The other games see a pair of frontrunners in action. Julius Baer, fresh off their impressive run this season in the C league, have looked impressive in the postseason.

In their first playoff game last Monday the side stomped on the PWC Scorpions 19-1.

Tonight Julius Baer takes on C league rival Maples C. Maples beat Electratech Pure Energy 10-8 last Wednesday.

From there sudden powerhouse CML Hammerheads are in action. The squad, lead by local sportsmen David Taylor and Rupert Whittaker, finished the season at 7-4-1 and second place in the Banana Orchid division.

The squad is surprising in that it was just promoted to the B league from the C league this season.

Tonight should see the unofficial ‘comeback kids’ of the division do what they do best: execute under pressure. The side finished the season with a run difference of 16, scoring 116 runs while allowing a league-best 100 runs. In addition they are notorious for rallying late in games.

Action continues the rest of the week with the last game on Thursday. The finals for all three divisions are on Monday May 4 at 8:30pm.
