It seems such a shame that it takes the publicity of the Mount Trashmore photo to get something done about this growing problem.
We are part time Brackers and since buying a home over there I just can’t believe that the Cayman Islands Government still allows glass and tin to be dumped in the ground!
They get the barge over there most weeks and it goes back to GC virtually empty every time. It should be made a legal requirement to implement recycling. The damage dumping in the ground will do for our children and grandchildren is immeasurable. If it costs to recycle then people must pay!
In Barbados they have a scheme where people get money back on any glass or plastic containers in the form of a voucher to spend in the supermarket. One big benefit of that is the local children never pass a bottle in the street without picking it up.
