Aces set for Island Games

When Cayman’s tennis side competes at the NatWest Island Games in a couple of weeks there will be a wealth of expectation on them.

‘The team this year is going to be very competive and should win a few medals,’ said coach Robert Hale.

‘The two juniors this year on the squad are Eddie Bodden and Patricia Villarroel. Patricia has had an outstanding warmup to the Island Games and is projected to become the No.1 female player in Cayman in the next couple of years.’

The NatWest Island Games run from June 27-July 4 and around 90 Cayman athletes will compete.

The men’s team is led by the veteran David Berry and the most outstanding player at the Games two years ago, Eduardo Torres who took gold.

‘We are expecting Eduardo to medal again this year barring injuries.’
